Edgewood Church is located three miles east of downtown Atlanta off of Memorial Drive between the Moreland Avenue and Maynard Terrace I-20 exits. The address is 1560 Memorial Dr, SE, Atlanta, GA 30317. Click HERE to see the map. We are directly across the street from Floor & Decor. People often say it looks like we have a horse pasture in front. If you see the chickens of Unearthing Farm, you have arrived!
The main gathering time for Edgewood Church is Sunday mornings at 10am. We rarely start on time but that’s okay.Getting there before the service starts give you time to talk to people, get a cup of coffee, or sit and have a quiet moment before things get going. We do not live stream but previous sermons are available to Listen In. If you are listen in online, please connect with us via email. We would love to know you “visited” and to meet face to face in the future.
Someone will probably say hello when you arrive and walk you in to the breakfast area. Coffee, tea, juice, oatmeal, fruit and breakfast bars are our Sunday morning staples. You can come right in and sit down or linger by the coffee or on our front porch and get to know someone. Our service begins at 10:07 am with music and usually includes a variety of songs (with words provided), meditative practices, and a teaching or message – all centered on the particular theme of the day. After the message, the pastor and others will share upcoming ways to be involved in the community. Our service ends around 11:20 with a blessing given by one of the pastors.
We want you to feel comfortable and free to be yourself. Whether you wear jeans or a dress, flip flops or dress shoes, PJs or a three-piece suit, you will be welcomed with open arms.
Read all about Edgewood Church for All Ages. Children are so important and ALWAYS welcome to be with you during church. We are accustomed to the sound and movements of children in our space. We also invite older children to participate in the life of the church by reading, praying or engaging with the sermon when they feel comfortable.
It means our church is shaped by the people who are part of it. Decisions are made thoughtfully by a rotating board from the community who know and care deeply about this place.
At Edgewood, we don’t have bishops or a distant headquarters. Instead, we make decisions together—listening for the Spirit in community. Belonging doesn’t require perfect beliefs—just a willingness to show up and grow alongside others.
The word Congregational might sound unfamiliar, but it’s actually one of the oldest expressions of church life post-reformation. Long before the rise of Baptist, Methodist, or non-denominational churches, Congregationalists were gathering in small, self-governed communities—choosing pastors, caring for one another, and trying to follow Jesus with integrity and mutual support.
That’s still what we’re about. We don’t have all the answers, but we believe in walking with one another through real life, practicing grace, justice, and compassion.
No. Not everyone here does. Edgewood Church is a place where your questions are welcome and your perspective and reservations are given space. We would love for you to join us anytime.

More than anything, we have found that people really need community. We can’t be expected to “get it together” first. We need the kind that helps you carry the hard stuff to get back on your feet. Edgewood is a place with a low barrier to entry—just keep showing up. Edgewood people are welcoming, our compassion runs deep, and we know how to embrace all kinds of families and people, including those in recovery, single parents, or whatever is making life tough. You don’t have to do life alone. We’re here to walk with you because we’ve been there.
We do not rent our space.
BUT we are happy to share the space for groups or individuals from our community who need a space and meet a few criteria.
1. We do not host for-profit or money making endeavors.
2. It must benefit the community. (We would love to host more recovery, support or mutual aide groups!)
3. It can’t conflict, interfere or infringe on the prior use of the space for another group or the values of our community.
If you think you meet these requirements, please send us an email.
Yes—but with a twist. Edgewood Church is home to a lot of good things, even if we don’t run them all ourselves.
Canopy Preschool on our property weekday mornings is an independent program started by a pod of neighbors in 2020, and Unearthing Farm—just across the driveway—is a separate nonprofit we share deep roots with.
Community FoodScapeshosts its plant nursery at the farm and often uses the church as a hub.
Hart Therapy (Madalyn Hart, Speech Therapist) also has office space in our building.
And every weeknight, you’ll find our rooms full of life thanks to a thriving recovery community.
We love that the lines between what is church and what is community get a little blurry around here—lots of people call Edgewood Church home for one reason or another.

Jesus fulfilled prophesies of scripture, is understood by Christians to be the Messiah of scripture, studied scripture, lived out scripture, taught from scripture, memorized scripture, and died with scripture on his lips. We could not be followers of Jesus without a high value of scripture.
People all over the world interpret the Bible from many different religious, political, and professional perspectives. These people may read scripture through the lens of an agnostic, an archeologist, an atheist, a Muslim, a Jew, a professor of religion, a historian, a professor of literature, or a combination of any of these as well as dozens of others. All of these people read and interpret the Bible in their own particular way – through their own particular lens.
As Christians, as people who are living into the Way of Jesus – living with Jesus as Lord, we interpret scripture through the lens of Jesus – through the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
We give the highest interpretive priority to the approach that Jesus taught his followers to take toward scripture, to focus on his teaching about loving God and loving your neighbor found in Matthew 22:36-40 along with the Golden Rule (“Do unto others what you would have them do unto you”) found in Matthew 7:12.
Jesus also asked...
Interpreting and understanding scripture is not always easy, but for us, as followers of Jesus, this is where we begin. When interpreting and understanding scripture becomes difficult, we turn to God, trusting God in the areas we lack clarity or find disagreements because we know that God is bigger than our particular perspective and God can handle our mistakes.
Most groups, clubs, and organizations have a written or unwritten standard for belonging – but if you pay attention to Jesus you’ll notice that he didn’t. Jesus’ only criteria for being in his group was a desire to be in his group – a willingness to follow him.
This meant that Jesus’ group was full of all kinds of people: rich and poor, people from the far political right and the far political left, people who had committed every kind of sin, people who had ‘wrong’ ideas about God, Jesus and the Dream of God, and people from a variety of ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. Jesus’ way of forming a group of followers made a lot of people uncomfortable (and still does), but it is how we strive to live out the Dream of God.
There are no members at Edgewood Church. If you want to be a part of it, just keep showing up!
The only criteria for belonging is a desire to be a part of Edgewood Church – a group of people who are committed to following Jesus, our center, together.
So come join us. We’ve been praying for you and saving a spot for you because we believe our life together will be better with you in it!
*At Edgewood Church there is no published or hidden criteria for belonging. 😉
